Naqla Driver App
Truck drivers work from the road, so their app has to work for them, even offline.

The Real Problem
Naqla, Egypt's first trucking platform (since 2016), connects shippers with a network of trusted carriers and handles everything from load pricing and pick-up to delivery, payment and documents. Its drivers juggle jobs, routes and dispatch messages while on the road, and the existing app was getting in their way. This logistics mobile app UI/UX design started from what slowed them down:
- Managing drivers was cumbersome. Businesses with several drivers struggled to switch accounts and assign jobs.
- Weak offline support. In areas with poor coverage, shipment details and call history disappeared.
- Hard to trust at first. New users had little onboarding and no way to look around as a guest.
- Unreliable locations. Inaccurate directions frustrated drivers when it mattered most.

Finding the Fix
We ran surveys, interviews and usability tests to find the pain points drivers hit every day, then mapped the full user flow from sign-up to getting paid. Four fixes came out of it:
- Better onboarding with clear instructions and a guest mode.
- Offline access to the information drivers need on the road.
- A simpler journey: easier account switching and job assignment, plus chat and a quick call to the call center.
- Visible security: clear reasons for asking for a national ID, and extra protection around it.

What We Built
A new, modern interface for the next version of the app, designed in Arabic for every driver:
- Home shows the driver's state, ongoing trips and available ones at a glance.
- Driver papers let drivers register their license, car license and ID safely.
- Trips show the car type, pick-up and drop-off times, price and points before accepting.
- Wallet and cash out handle daily earnings and send money straight to a bank account.

One System for 40+ Screens
I built a design system of buttons, icons and typography (Ge SS Two) on a professional palette with a signature pink and green, and turned the requirements into interactive Figma prototypes that developers could build from, working side by side with the product managers.

What Changed
The new version now serves more than 10,000 drivers:
- Task completion rates improved by 35%.
- Design-to-development handoff time cut by 30%.
- Development iteration time reduced by 25%.

What I Had to Work With
Five weeks, three designers and more than 40 screens: the deadline was tight, so every decision had to earn its place. Designing for drivers on the road, often with weak signal and a phone in a holder, kept us focused on big targets, clear states and information that survives going offline.
