## The Real Problem

Boutique hotels in Saudi Arabia compete with global chains, and most of their websites look the same: white pages, stock photos and a booking form. SDU Boutique is a hospitality brand built on something very specific, the intricate art of Sadu weaving and the stability and depth of the Saudi land. A generic template would erase the very reason the brand exists.

So the challenge was twofold. The site had to make people feel heritage and quiet luxury the moment it loads, in Arabic first. And it still had to do the practical job: help a guest pick a destination, understand the rooms and get in touch, without friction. This case study follows the hotel website UI/UX design from the first moodboard to responsive, right-to-left screens.

## Finding the Direction

I treated it like a brand project before a UI project, and moved through six stages: briefing, market and competitive analysis, moodboard and references, concept development, wireframing and prototyping, and visual design.

The moodboard settled on one feeling: modern heritage. Deep burgundy leads, followed by dark green, cream and black, in fixed proportions so no screen drifts off-brand. Two design statements guided every decision afterwards:

- **Sculptural textures.** Interface surfaces that echo the tactile, woven essence of Saudi heritage.
- **Soft directional light.** Lighting in the imagery guides emotion and depth through every screen.

## What I Designed

The site is built around five pages, structured the way a guest plans a stay rather than the way a hotel is organized:

- **Home.** "Experience luxury as it should be", with the essentials up front: 4 boutique destinations, 85 rooms and suites and a 24/7 dedicated guest service, then a destination carousel and a closing invitation to start your story at Sadu.
- **About.** The concept of Arabian devotion: the brand's history and culture, its values (authenticity, generosity, uniqueness, ambition), its vision and mission.
- **Hotels.** Each property, such as SDU Boutique Al Madinah, with its suites, services, apartments and gallery.
- **Contact.** "Every stay begins with a message": one form and a directory of the hotels in Al Madinah, Riyadh, Al Khobar and Jazan.

## Beyond the Screen

A hospitality brand lives far outside its website, so I carried the identity into brand applications and a campaign built on three lines: living civilization, luxury hospitality, authentic experience. Seeing the same textures and palette on signage and print was the real test that the system holds together.

## What I Had to Work With

This was a self-initiated study, so there was no client brief to lean on. I wrote my own, then held myself to it. Everything was designed Arabic-first and right-to-left, across desktop, tablet and mobile, and the copy had to stay short enough that the imagery could carry the mood.

## What I Learned

**Heritage lives in the details.** It is texture, light and proportion that make the site feel Saudi, not ornaments added on top.

**Arabic-first is its own layout.** Designing right-to-left from the start produced a calmer, more natural reading flow than mirroring an English page ever would.
